Latest News & Updates

Wow! It's been awhile since I've updated. I don't really have anything important to write, I just figured I'd let everyone know I was still around. Work has been really busy, but that's actually a good thing. It makes for a shorter work week. School has been good. Everything is good! Yesterday was my birthday. It was fairly laid back. Nothing too exciting, just cake at work and happy hour afterwards. I'll be seeing my family tomorrow for that whole thing. Anyway, smell you later!

Woohooo! First update of the new year. Sorry for my
absence, but I've been busy. And with school starting next
week, that's not going to change any time soon. Sorry.
There has been some requests for some changes to the forum.
I'm looking into some different set-ups but again it will require
time for me to implement. Anyway, without
I don't know what I would put on this site. Here's a funny
Transformers/Lord of the Rings mashup!

I saw the above and it transported me back 10 years. Why, you ask? That's because John Faye's getting the band back together. That's right one night only The Caulfields are reuniting. John, who is now the lead singer of Ike, used to front The Caulfields. They only made two albums and only had one hit, but they rocked! They were the opening act at one of the more infamous concerts that my friends and I attended in our teen years. All that and they were from Newark, Delaware! Click here for a live acoustic version of John singing "Devil's Diary" or you can download Ike's video for "Deathbed" Also, for your viewing pleasure is some footage of Ike giving back to their community:

So, I'm at my desk hardly workin' or workin' hard (it was a little bit o' both, I suppose), when my boss comes over to me and says, "Bob, I've been thinking. What would you say to working more overtime on a regular basis. " I look back at him dumbfounded as I barely have enough work to fill forty hours a week. Says he, "I'd like to start an initiative to combat our stressed budget." Our stressed budget is nothing new to me, as I've had to sit through countless meetings that have mentioned our need for increased 'metrics' or productivity. However, I'm still confused by this proposal. After more prompting, I get, "With our huge workload, it will be difficult to meet our goals without additional help. Unfortunately, we don't have approval to increase our headcount." I'm pretty sure you get where this is going. Now they might want me to work ten hour days with only two hours of actual work to do each day. Whatever! I get paid by the hour.
The good thing to working longer days is that I'll have more time to find gems like this:
Oh, those wacky scientologists! Be afraid of Hubbard, be very afraid!

Sometimes childhood memories are best left as merely memories. Case in point: I'm at work busy being my usual over-achieving self, when all of a sudden, on my screen, appeared this:
You're asking yourself, "What the hell is that?" That, my friends, is 'Galaxy Rangers'. When I was 8 I thought that this was the coolest show. It had cyborg cops, robot horses, aliens, and a cool western theme.....kinda like 'Firefly'. But, I watched this today and it does NOT hold up! I mean the words "obi-wan canoli" were actually uttered. I feel so betrayed by my inner child.

Thanks to some helpful advice from my loyal readers, I've made some changes to the site. Nothing too drastic, it's hopefully just a little more pleasing to the eye. Enjoy!

We had our Christmas party at work yesterday. I know, it's a little early. Apparently, people had a problem with celebrating Christmas closer to Christmas. Oh well, what do I know. It was a nice time for all including catered food and gift exchanging. I even felt compelled to update my pictures with examples of the festivities.
In case no one has noticed, I also added a forum button to site navigation on the left. Please click it and leave comments or I might get a complex. I'll even link it here in case you're to lazy to look for it.

Earlier in the week I get a call from Comcast, or as I like to call them: Scumcast. They saw my resume online and have a tech support specialist/lead position available that they think I might be a good fit for. So, they schedule me to come in on Saturday(today) for their standard round of preliminary testing. It consists of a personality test and a skill set test. No problem, I figure. I get there a little early and need to use the restroom. No such luck. The troll behind the security desk says I'm not allowed to use the restroom without an escort. WTF? That was the first sign that this was gonna be a great place to work. I wait for the HR person giving the tests for about twenty minutes. He comes out to get us(there are six of us testing for various positions) and takes us to the testing "room". It's actually a hallway sectioned off with paper wall partitions. We each take a seat at a p.c. and begin. I feel that a personality test only works if you answer with the first thing that comes to mind. If you try to give them the answer you think they are looking for, you might end up looking like a sociopath. This is apparently the wrong thing to do, or I am a sociopath. Not real sure which. Maybe you, the faithful readers can enlighten me. Long story even longer, I 'm done the tests very quickly. Quicker, in fact than my five fellow potential Scumcast drones. They then take us into an actual room where we fill out an application and release of information consent form. I am then ready to leave when Mr. HR takes me aside and tells me that while I scored perfectly on my skill set test, I FAILED my personality test. How does someone FAIL a personality test? I must not have a personality or I scored the same as someone who is a razor's edge away from sniping people from a bell tower. This is discouraging to say the least, as I have met others who work at Scumcast and they ain't all that impressive in the charisma department. I was then escorted out. So all in all, a good day to be me.

Two weeks before Christmas, and I'm just now starting my shopping. I do this every year. God, what a headache! This year it kinda bit me on my ass, though. My sister only gave me a couple of things to get for my niece. She did this weeks ago. I figured I had plenty of time. Well, I go to buy one of the items and lo and behold......it's sold out. It's not even available online anymore. What is causing me such distress, you ask?
That's right. A silly pink Barbie acoustic guitar. I guess I have to keep searching. Oh, by the way, here's a funny Christmas song

I saw "The Fountain" this weekend. It was profoundly moving. The story, for those that don't know, is about Tommy and his wife Izzy, who is dying from a brain tumor. Their's is the contemporary part in a three-piece story that spans a thousand years from 16th century Spain to the Xibalba nebula in the 26th century. I know what you're thinking, and no, this isn't some cracked L. Ron Hubbard movie involving Scientology. While the movie is deeply spiritual, it borrows more from ancient Mayan beliefs and even the Christian Bible than from Tom Cruise and Xenu. The pieces are woven together by the manuscript Izzy is writing as she is dying. To say any more would be unfair to anyone who hasn't seen it. However, this movie can be interpreted in many ways. The time periods all contain versions of Tommy and Izzy, and whether these are literal or metaphorical versions is just one layer to this tale. Go see this movie! If for no other reason, see it for the amazing performances of Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz and the haunting music score.

Uggghhh! So I'm at work and I glance to the right when I see something that will scar me forever! I can hardly describe the horror!
My co-worker is digging like you wouldn't believe. But that wasn't all! Oh noooo!!! Then he started to chow down like a starving man eating his first meal in weeks. I almost vomited. God, I need a new job.

So I'm at Delcastle Recreational Park enjoying the nice weather, when who do I see: Brian Turner! I haven't seen that cat in a couple o' years. We exchanged pleasantries and hopefully we'll get together soon to reminisce about the days when the eggs were fried and our lives were a tad bit over-easy.

Columbus Day! Off from work! Life is good! I figured I would take some time to update the ol' site. Hooboy! Lots going on this week. First things first:
Oh, yeah! New Battlestar, beeotches! And I just got a brand new HiDef TV to enjoy it with. Life is definitely good.

So, I'm at work today, trying to fill eight hours with 25 minutes of actual work and a couple o' hours of worthless meetings when I find this:
That's right, knuckle-draggers: The MAXX! So, I had that going for me.

Today is Monday. It was a nice enough day. The thing that makes today note-worthy is that it is the day after the Eagles blew a huge lead in the second half. Ha! Stupid Eagles. Latest in bachelor party news: October 14 is the day of fun-filled reckless abandon! See you in the funny papers!

After over a year and a half, I have finally returned to the AMAZINGBOB.COM! What is the reason for my prolonged absence, you ask yourself. Simple....I uhh, got kinda bored with the site and couldn't really think of anything interesting to do with it. As you can see, I still haven't thought of anything interesting to do with it, but I have returned anyway! I changed the look around slightly, but that's about it, really. As always, if anyone is reading this out there, drop me a line and let me know what you think. I'm considering making this sort of a blog(it's all the rage these days), but to be honest I don't know if I could be bothered to update this multiple times a week. Anyhoo, in the time since my last update, a buncha things have changed. I'm living in a new place and working at a new job and life just keeps blazing forward. Oh well, check back often(not because I'll update, but because I like it when people do my bidding)!

Well, after a couple of months of being busy with school and work, I finally have some time to update my site! I dabbled with a flash editor and made changes on my home page. Hope you like it. I plan on trying to use more flash on this site, but that really depends on how much time I have to work with it. The editor I used was a trial version of 3D Flash Animator. I don't know if I like it or not yet, but it seems pretty complete and the price is right for now. I decided to dump the script that cycles through MIDI files and just keep specific sound files for each page. It was a cool script but, I just got tired of it. I will probably update my Pix Page as well, but I haven't decided yet. I hope everyone has a great new year! I'll see you in 2005!

Just made a few adjustments on the site. See if you notice what they are! Just kidding. I know that all of the loyal fans already know that I added some new background sounds and cleaned up a couple of pictures. Remember, let me know what you think of the site.

As many of my loyal fans can tell, the look of TheAmazingBob.com has changed a bit. This is thanks to some contributions from a good friend and great artist Greg Riley. He is a local artist that has a lot of talent. He and I are working together on a project that I can't wait for everyone to see. It's a slow process but has been rewarding for both of us. I won't say anymore about what it is we are doing so as to not ruin the surprise. However, don't be surprised if you see some of our other collaborations on either this site here, or Greg's site DesignsbyRiley.com
The other change at the site here is the great sounds on the home page. I added a cool new script that cycles through ten different MIDI files at each page load or refresh. Well, of course that meant finding new MIDI files : ) I found a great site that hosts a boatload of files that are just hysterical. I will link the site on my Surf Away page. Well, that's it for this update. You never know when I might update again, so keep checking back.
